2019: We’ll shoulder Ambode’s campaigns – Group

A pressure group within the ruling All Progressives Congress in Lagos State, The Change Agent, has urged the state governor, Mr. Akinwumi Ambode, not to go through the stress of campaigns, but focus on his series of projects, with a promise to shoulder the task of securing second term for the governor.
The group, at a New Year meeting held in the home of its founder, Hon. Dipo Okeyomi, a party chieftain, said campaigning for another term would amount to distractions for the governor.
In a communique issued after the meeting, signed by Okeyomi, the group stated, “Our action governor should not bother himself with the rigours of campaigning for second term, even when it is time to campaign.
“In Lagos, we have a culture of excellence in which we rate sitting leaders with their achievements. So far, Ambode has exceeded our expectation and like Oliver Twist, we are asking for more in terms of infrastructural development.
“So let him continue with his good works while we, on our part, will shoulder the task of spearheading his campaigns across the 20 and 37 local government areas and local council development areas, respectively.”
The group particularly commended Ambode for undertaking the fly-over project at the boisterous Agege heartland as a way of decongesting traffic snarls and making the environment conducive for human
habitation.
“This is coming after he tarred many access roads in Lekki-Ajah, Abule Egba and completed the wondrous multi-layer pedestrian bridge at Berger, among others. We are overwhelmed,” the group enthused.
Meanwhile, the Change Agent has tasked all its members across the state to safeguard their voter cards and resist any attempt by desperate politicians to buy them up, saying, “As your vote is your power, the voter card is the giver of that power.”
