There was mild drama at a Lagos Grade ‘A’ Customary Court when a housewife, Ibironke Akomolafe, prayed the court for the dissolution of her 45-day-old marriage. Ibironke, in a suit numbered ACC/335/CN/2015, described her husband, Akomolafe Abiodun, as a fraudster whom she alleged, tricked her into the marriage to satisfy his desire but later dumped her like a disused rag.

She told the court that she initially thought that her husband had passion for her progress when he proposed to her “with his sugar-coated mouth,” which made her fell for him. She said, “My husband tricked me so as to get a marriage certificate because he wanted to travel abroad. Now that he has travelled, he has stopped picking my phone calls.

“He would not even call me again. The last time he spoke with me, he completely broke my heart. He said I should stop worrying him, and I guessed he had married another woman abroad.”

Ibironke, therefore, pleaded with the court for a speedy judgement, saying that she had been defrauded, having realised that the essence of the marriage was for him to obtain necessary travel documents. The defendant, Akomolafe, was not in court for his defence; while the court President, R.I. Adeyeri, adjourned the case for judgement.
