Nine members of the Civilian Joint Task Force were, on Sunday, January 15, shot dead by unknown gunmen in Abaji village in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of Benue State.
The Point gathered that the yet to be identified gunmen, numbering about three, arrived at about 1.30pm on a Bajaad motorcycle and opened fire on members of the CJTF who were having a meeting in Abaji, killing 9 on the spot and leaving one severely injured.
Confirming the incident, the Benue State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu said that the corpses of the deceased had been deposited in a mortuary at a public hospital.
The PPRO said that no arrest had been made.
He, however, disclosed that investigation was in progress to arrest the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
