Adebutu never planned to hijack Ogun LP, Party clears air

The National Chairman, Labour Party, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam, has debunked the comment credited to the party’s Secretary, Mr. Sunday Oginni, that a House of Representatives member representing Remo Federal Constituency  Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, was planning to hijack the party in Ogun state.

The outgoing secretary had allegedly said in an interview that the federal lawmaker was planning to dump the PDP and hijacked LP  through a back door.

Oginni reportedly said that some hoodlums believed to be supporters of Adebutu stormed and attacked some members of the party at the ward congress of the party held at Ijebu-Ode, Ikenne, and Sagamu local government areas leaving six persons seriously injured.

But reacting to the comment, disclosed that at no time had the federal lawmaker ever made any attempt to hijack the party.

He described the statement credited to Oginni as blatant lies, noting that nobody can hijack the party’s structure in the state.

“I want to state there is nothing like that and nobody can hijack our structure in Labour Party. We welcome any well-meaning Ogun state indigene to our party in the state,” he said.

The national chairman, however on behalf of the entire party members appealed to the lawmaker over the defamation of his character, urging the members of the public to ignore Oginni’s comment on Adebutu.

“Whosoever has said that especially with regards to the acting secretary of the party in the person of Ogini was a misleading information and I want the entire public to disregard that information and as a party, we tender an apology to the person of Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu,” he added.

Abdulsalam also debunked the speculations making rounds that the lawmaker brought hoodlums to the state congress to attack some ward members of the party, saying that the Congress was credible, free and fair.

He said, “I want to say emphatically that through the wards that the congresses were conducted, they were rancour free and there was nothing no attack. I want to state concerning Ikenne and Remo North that I was there personally there was no single attack there.

“So I want to specifically debunk the totality of falsehood that is being spread that was published in a particular medium that some people were attacked, there was nothing of such because I was in those areas.”
