Ajegunle artistes are missionaries to entertainment industry – Marvellous Benjy

There is the general perception that Nigerian artistes, especially artistes from ghettos like Ajegunle, cannot stay away from smoking weed, otherwise known as marijuana. But Benjamin Ukueja, aka, Marvellous Benjy, says he is not one of those artistes who take weed before they can do music.

He told The Point that smoking weed could make one go insane, and that he could not even try it at his age. “People say it gives them inspiration or confidence. I have people who are close to me that take weed and they do not behave normal.”

Marvellous Benjy, who came to limelight in 2006 with ‘Suo’ and a distinct dance move, stated that he was still doing music like in the past and would never need a stimulant.

“As I am speaking with you right now, I am in the studio working. I also do a lot of production and talent development projects. I put out singles almost every month; if you go online, you would see my songs.

Music generally has more to do with production, promotion and marketing,” he said. Having been off the limelight for some time, the exKennis Music star maintained that with his talent, ability and experience, he would return to the mainstream at the right time.

He said, “A comeback is not an illusion; it is a possibility, so Nigerians should watch. Ajegunle artistes are missionaries in the industry; music to us is a mission and it will be very difficult for the entertainment community to forget about us.”

He, however, admitted that his fallout with Kennis Music was a blunder on his part and he has apologised to the management.
