Alimi, Lagos lawmaker, dies at 50  

A member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Kazeem Ademola Alimi, is dead.
The lawmaker, who represented Eti Osa Constituency 1 in the Assembly died on Tuesday, barely two weeks after his 50th birthday. He died following a brief illness.
A statement by Musbau Razak, Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, confirmed that the late lawmaker died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.
A two-time lawmaker, until his death, was the Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
He is survived by his widow and children.
A source said Alimi had been sick immediately he marked his 50th birthday two weeks ago and never recovered from the illness.
He was said to be at the Critical Care Unit at LASUTH for four days until he died.
Alimi was born on 3 July, 1967. He started his education at Moba Community Primary School, Moba, Eti-Osa.
He attended Government College, Maroko, Eti-Osa and obtained a Bachelor Degree in Economics from the Lagos State University, LASU.
The deceased had over the years worked with the Lagos State House of Assembly, 1992-2001; Lagos Internal Revenue Service, as Head, CPO, 2001-2010; Lagos State House of Assembly, 2011-2015 and until his death, a lawmaker in the House.
Reacting to the tragic incident, the Lagos State Government, in a statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Mr. Steve Ayorinde, said it mourned “the sad departure of Hon. Kazeem Ademola Alimi (Eti Osa 1).
“He was a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly until his death today at age 50. May his loved ones and colleagues be comforted,” Ayorinde stated.
