  • Baraje blasts Makurdi side

The management of Federation Cup finalist, Lobi Stars, maybe shown the exit doors in the coming days by Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State, The Point can authoritatively report. A top official of the state revealed that all is not well in the camp of the Glo Premier League campaigners, following an alleged diversion of N29m by the Dominic Iorfa-led management team.

“I can tell you that we have not heard the last from the N29m released on Wednesday by the governor. Hopefully, the present management will be sacked as soon as next week to give room for proper probe of their activities,” the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, noted.

Speaking further, he questioned Lobi Stars’ approach and was furious that the team paraded against Akwa United were not the best in the squad. “You could see right from kick-off that we were not at the same level with Akwa. Could you imagine that from the information I’ve just received, the team that played today was not picked by the coach. All these will be ironed out as soon as we return to Makurdi I can assure you,” he added.

Meanwhile, head coach of the Federation Cup winners, Zachary Baraje, has blasted the Makurdi side for underrating them during the encounter. The former Dolphins and Enyimba handler told The Point that he was surprised coach Justin Tenger opted for such a tactical approach.

Baraje said, “Lobi Stars underrated Akwa United and they paid dearly for it. I listened to the coach and his captain saying they would beat us 2-0 and later allow us a consolation goal. The coach said he knew Akwa United squad inside out and I think that was a huge mistake.

“Our last league match was on our home ground and I used the clash to build for the (Federation Cup) final match. Luckily, my players were good tactically today.”
