APC govt out of ideas on tackling recession, says lawmaker

A member of the National Assembly, Tajudeen Obasa, has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress has run out of ideas on how to tackle the current economic problems confronting the nation.
Obasa, representing Ojo constituency in the House of Representatives, also deplored the economic policies of the APC-led Federal Government.
The lawmaker argued that inspite of the enormous resources at the disposal of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, the government had continued to find it hard to proffer adequate and appropriate solutions to the recession the country had been thrown in.
Obasa said this while speaking on the recent defection of some members of the ruling APC, the Labour Party and the Unity Party of Nigeria to the Peoples Democratic Party in Ojo, Lagos State.
He said that the ruling party had persistently failed to come up with strategies for turning the country’s ailing economy around.
The PDP lawmaker blamed the prevailing economic hardship in the land on the wrong policies of the current administration and lack of people-oriented programmes that would alleviate poverty amongst Nigerians.
“What has characterized this government since they came into power is wrong economic policies, selective prosecution, persecution of political opponents and antimasses policies, which have not given room for the growth of the economy under this administration.
The economy has collapsed on them and they seem not to have ideas on how to turn the economy around.
