The Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has expressed doubt over Governor Olusegun Mimiko’s claims that his government has recruited over 3,513 people into the public service and constructed over 1,300 kilometres of roads across the state.

Mimiko made the claims while delivering his 2016 budget speech to the Ondo State House of Assembly.

In a statement on Tuesday by its Director of Media and Publicity, Mr.Steve Otaloro, the APC challenged Mimiko to identify the locations of all the roads and provide the names of the over 3,513 workers.

APC described the budget as an act of deception designed to make people of the state believe that the governor was working and judiciously spending the state’s resources.

It said, “Dr. Olusegun Mimiko in his 2016 budget presentation to the Ondo State House of Assembly claimed his administration had recruited over 2,000 youths into the agriculture entrepreneurs scheme, paid N350 million annually as external examination fees, recruited over 3,513 people into the public service and constructed over 1,300 kilometres of roads across the state.
“The All Progressives Congress however doubts these claims and challenges Mr. Governor to identify the location of all the 1,300 kilometres of roads constructed, names of over 3,513 workers employed into the public service and make further verifiable details on the N350 million annual external examination fees paid.”

“The APC is appalled at the economic incompetence of the government, profligate lifestyle, the alarming rate of unemployment in the state, the embarrassing shortage of teachers in all our primary and secondary schools, the bad roads that had turned into death traps across the state and the rationale for disallowing students in public and private schools across the state from gaining entry to their classrooms due to the inability of their parents to purchase government Kaadi Igbeayo,” it added.
