Buhari, Trump’s phone conversation’ll benefit Nigeria – Jemibewon, Reps member

Some prominent Nigerians have applauded the recent telephone conversation, which the Presidency said held between President Muhammadu Buhari and the United States President, Donald Trump, saying it was an indication of the renewal of positive relationship between the two countries.

They added that the phone conversation between the two leaders had reaffirmed the continued existence of the positive synergy between both countries. According to them, Trump’s interest in Nigeria, which prompted his conversation with President Buhari, signaled a good omen for the country in so many ways.

A former military governor of old Oyo State, Major General David Jemibewon, told our correspondent that the development would go a long way in helping Nigeria in its current war against terrorism and insurgency.

Jemibewon said, “Our President’s conversation with the American President will bring a good time and help Nigeria as a nation under this administration. The two of them are world leaders.

Trump is in charge of the United States and Buhari, Nigeria. These are people from different great countries. They are the leaders, they know what will be good for their followers.

“Moreover, communication is a very good thing, even between two people who disagree, when they start communicating, they will come back and agree.

So, I am sure that a call from Buhari to President Trump will definitely bring good things in our relationship with them and the two countries will enjoy good relationship. Of course, it will support further improvement on our international relations and it will enhance us to totally overcome terrorism.”

Speaking in the same vein, a serving member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Tony Oghene, said the communication between President Buhari and President Trump confirmed America’s positive interest in Nigeria. Oghene added that Nigeria should, therefore, take advantage of the renewed relationship to address some of the problems facing the country.
