Caleb College student receives Cambridge Learner Awards

Oluwagbemisola Oresegun of Caleb International College, Lagos will on Friday (today) receive the prestigious British Council Recognition and Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards for her exceptional performance in the June 2015/2016 Cambridge examinations.

Oresegun, who came tops in Religious Studies in the O’ level Cambridge Examinations conducted across the six continents of the world inJune 2015/2016,willreceive anofficial certificate at an awards ceremony scheduled to hold atthe International Hotel, KofoAbayomi Street, Lagos.

The Director of the college, Dr. Ola Adebogun, attributedtheOresegun’s feat to the school’s commitment to high standard of education, the existence of 100 per cent facilities and quality of staff in the college.

Adebogun stressed that the school’s conformity to quality standards with both Nigerian and British integrated curriculum has, no doubt, confirmed the institution’s core objective of ensuring the production of accomplished and ambitious young boys and girls of proven integrity poised to make significant contributions to the society.

He noted that Caleb International College was established to develop each individual into a confident, happy and well-rounded child by instilling in them the realisation that it is the development of the mind and body, the enrichment of the intellect and a consideration for others that are foundation stones for ultimate success.

The college’s director stressed the importance of striving for excellence in those areas in which pupils have talent, be it in the classroom, on the field, in music, art or in contributing to a caring and supportive community.

“At Caleb International College, we offer a competitive environment, yet one that actively seeks to promote achievement in every child and sometimes that achievement is simply by taking part and the opportunities and facilities we offer our children are second to none, hence our frequent success at both the national and international levels, which speak for itself,” he said.

Adebogun further explained that both the pre-school, primary and secondary classes always focused on flagship programmes that would promote thedevelopment ofthe child andequipthemto be self-disciplined, honest and self-reliant.

He stressed that developing these skills was the cornerstone of the education offered by the school. In a related development, Caleb International College, Lagos came first at the preliminary stage of the selection for the draw and grooming of sixty schools to take part in the final of the school debate competition being organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Education as part of activities to mark Lagos State at 50.

Adebogun described the achievement as not only an evidence that the school would continue to attain greater heights, but that it would also maintain its standard of producing pupils with entrepreneurial and leadership skills grounded in ethical values and ready to lead the train for positive change in the world.
