Capital Hills didn’t drop Chidinma for me, says Mz Kiss

Capital Hills Records’ musician, Omowunmi Akindele aka Mz Kiss, has said that she has nothing to do with Chidinma Ekile’s decision to walk out of the label after spending five years.
There have been insinuations that the popular music director, Clarence Peters, dropped Chidinma for Mz Kiss, because she was not bringing in money for the label again.
In an encounter with The Point, Mz Kiss said, “Chidinma and I are like sisters and we talk always. From what I know, her contract expired and she decided not to renew it. It is progress for her. If you are under someone for a long time and you decide to start your own thing, it is good. We are just three left on the label at present – myself, Ill Bliss and Da Suspect.”
Kiss was once signed by another video director, Paul Gambit, and she left him in a questionable manner. But, according to her, nothing went wrong.
“Gambit and I still had a video shoot some days ago. Leaving him was a mutual agreement. He told me that I could leave if there was someone committed to me. He has always loved my music and person. It was actually sad because we had good chemistry. Clarence and Gambit talks well.
“He did not waste his resources as many people thought. We both invested on me; I spent every little penny. And there were days where I jumped from one bus to another to meet up with appointments, instead of taking taxis. But he tried for me.”
She, however, stated that she had no plans to drop an album yet unless the audience demanded for it.
“I still plan to drop more singles for people to know what I am capable of because there is still so much in me. If my fans want me to drop an album tomorrow, it is ready because I have been working,” she noted.
She has often been criticised for the use of raunchy lyrics. And on that, the singer insisted that her music was not for everyone in the society.
“I have never heard unpleasant things about me, but people do give their opinions. My real fans do not say ill words about me; they love me the way I am. My music is not for everyone; if you like my brand, I am singing for you.
“When I was five years old, I was not allowed to listen to music at all. I was always studying. I started listening to music when I grew up. So, people can decide what they want their children to listen to. If their children are grown enough, they are at the liberty to listen to all kinds of music. But when they are little, it is the duty of the parents to control what they see and hear,” she maintained.
Her new single, titled, ‘Fuji,’ was released on her birthday, September 1. She plans to drop the musical video pretty soon.
