Complete projects in Maiduguri, environs, residents urge Gov. Shettima

Residents of Maiduguri have appealed to the Borno State government to complete all on-going projects within the metropolis following the return of peace to many parts of the state.
Some of the residents, who made this appeal while speaking with The Point in Maiduguri, said the completion of these projects would reduce hardship and also add economic values to the state.
About three years ago, the state government had embarked on massive construction of housing estates and roads in the Bulumkuku Ward of Maiduguri, but due to the insurgency by the Boko Haram sect, the full execution of the projects was stalled.
However, Bulumkuku residents said if all the roads under construction were completed, there would be a reduction inthe current hardship faced by residents as well change the fortune of the area.
A resident of the area, Ba’na Mustapha, said though the state government was facing challenges on how to cater for the IDPs and rebuild the houses destroyed by the insurgents, it should speed up the completion of the road projects.
“We understand that it’s not easy for the Borno State government to feed about 2 million IDPs. It is not an easy task, but the construction of these roads started about three years ago. We understand that due to attacks on the construction workers by Boko Haram, there has been delay in completion. Now that peace has returned to the city, the roads need to be completed,” he said
