Court remands 3 cultists for killing housewife during clash

An Osogbo Magistrate’s Court has remanded three suspected cult members for allegedly gunning down a resident of Osogbo, simply identified as Mrs. Bintu Anifowose, during a clash with a rival cult group.
The police said that the suspects, including Ibrahim Diekola,19; Amos Aderibigbe, 21, and Yomi Olaosebikan, 19, were members of the Black Axe confraternity.
It was gathered that Anifowose was hit by a stray bullet fired by the suspected cultists during a clash with a rival group around Old Garage area of Osogbo.
The deceased was said to be trekking to a building construction site, where she worked as a labourer, before she met her untimely death.
The Prosecutor, Sergeant Sunday Ajayi, infomed the court that the accused persons committed the offence on the August 5, 2017 at about 6:59am at Old Garage area, Osogbo.
Ajayi said the labourer died instantly after being shot.
He added that the offences committed by the accused persons were contrary to and punishable Under Sections 324,516,316,64(a)(b) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume. II Laws of Osun State, 2003.
The accused persons’ pleas were not granted due to the severity of their offence.
The presiding Magistrate, Mrs. Habibat Bashir, ordered that the trio be remanded at Ilesha prison.
Bashir adjourned the matter till October 27 for mention.
