Court remands cleric over possession of human skull, bone in Osun

A Magistrate court sitting in Ipetu, Osun State, has remanded a 43-year-old pastor, Adeyemo Adedayo, for allegedly keeping some human skull and dry bone in his church premises.
Adebayo, said to the cleric in charge of a Christ Apostolic Church in Edunabon, located at Anglican High School, Edunabon, Ife North Local Government Area of the state, was arraigned on Monday by the police in the state.
 
The skull and bone were said to have been found under a big mortar kept under a bamboo tree located within the church premises.
Adeyemo, popularly called “Efa-Efa,” was arrested by the police following a tip-off by some residents of Eduabon.
Meanwhile, the police prosecutor, Sergeant Okeniyi, told the court that the accused person was in possession of dried bones suspected to be human parts.
The alleged offence, according to the prosecutor, was contrary to and punishable under Sections 249 and 329A of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11 Laws of Osun State 2002.
But the accused person pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge bearing on breach of public peace and illegal possession of human skull.
Magistrate Faith Idowu remanded Adeyemo in Ile-Ife prison and adjourned the case till September 11, 2017, for mention.
