Court remands cleric, woman for staging fake public brawl in Osun

An Osun State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Monday remanded a cleric, Prophet Isreal Ojimi, and a woman, Bose Adetimikan, in prison for allegedly wearing charms and attempting to use human beings for ritual purposes.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on May 20, 2017 around 10:00 pm at Mosarajo area via Ile-Ife.
Abdullahi said that Ojimi, aged 38, and 27-year-old Adetimikan conspired to draw innocent people’s attention while they engaged themselves in a make-belief fight.
He added that the accused persons wore garments containing assorted charms with the intention to commit atrocities and crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, house and shops burgling, among others.
Abdullahi argued that they pretended to be fighting so as to draw attention of unsuspecting members of the public, who they would later rob and use for rituals.
He said the duo committed offence contrary to Sections 213, 249 (d) and 516 of the state’s Penal Code.
The pleas of the accused were not taken while Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode asked their counsel, Alaba Awoseemo, to approach the court with a written application for their bail.
He ordered that the duo be remanded in Ile-Ife prison custody and adjourned the case to June 13, for hearing of the bail application.
