Court remands lawyer, priest for forging dead man’s will

lawyer, an Anglican Church priest and others suspected to have been involved in criminal forgery of the will of a deceased person have been remanded in prison custody by Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Asaba, Delta State.

The remand of the accused persons followed a pronouncement by Justice Abang after listening to the argument of a police prosecutor, Silas Onele.

The Prosecutor had accused the defendants of conspiracy and forgery after the conclusion of a forensic investigation as ordered by the court to ascertain the validity or otherwise of a will of one late Chief Bernard Ogbolumani, suspected to have been
forged.

The prosecutor told the court that the alleged offence is punishable under the Criminal Code Act ,Cap C38,Laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria .

The defendants in the matter, including one of the sons of the deceased, pleaded not guilty to the charge and the matter was adjourned.
