Driver, 9 traders die as truck loses control in Osun

No fewer than 10 people lost their lives in a road accident that occurred along Ilobu/Ogbomoso road in Ifon-Osun, Osun State, on Tuesday morning.
A truck loaded with tubers of yam and said to be returning from a business trip, lost control and somersaulted.
The passengers were said to be returning from Ilesa Baruba along Saki in the Oyo/Kwara States boundary, where they had gone to buy the tubers of yam, among other wares.
Eyewitnesses’ accounts revealed that the truck reportedly developed a fault, which caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, resulting in the mishap.
It was gathered that the driver of the truck and five passengers lost their lives at the scene of the accident, while about five others were rushed to Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Hospital, Jaleyemi in Osogbo by some road users.
Our correspondent learnt that other traders, who sustained varying degrees of injuries, were received at the hospital where they were receiving treatment.
The remains of the victims were said to have been deposited at the hospital morgue.
Meanwhile, traders at Oluode Market in Osogbo, where most of the victims were said to be trading, besieged the hospital to sympathise with their colleagues.
