Essay competition: ASAP calls for entries 

The Academics Stand Against Poverty West Africa has called on undergraduates to apply for its inaugural essay competition known as Bandele Olanrewaju Essay Competition.
 The competition, which opened for entries on Monday, July 24, seeks to improve the reading culture of students, and writing as well as analytical skills.
The coordinator, ASAP West Africa,Oluwaseun Olanrewaju, said the essay competition would hold annually and the topic for this year’s competition was “The eradication of poverty: a key factor in achieving social justice. Discuss.”
He stated, “The essay can be written in English and French languages. Entries opened on July 24 and closes on November 10. The winner will be announced on December 29. Apart from receiving a cash prize of N100,000, the winner of the competition will have the opportunity to present the essay at 2018 ASAP WEST Africa Conference.”
For participation, students are expected to submit an essay of not more than 3,000 words as well as a short profile of not more than 150 words. The profile should include names, courses and the year of study. The essay and profile should be submitted to academics@asapwestafrica.org. Students that submit more than one entry will be disqualified.
