Fashion is being creative about your way of life – Shayo, CandyShay CEO

Fashion, for Princess Shayo Adeola Olugboji, means being creative about one’s style and way of life.
The Creative Director of CandyShays Closet, Ibadan, Oyo State, a popular fashion outfit for royalty, specialises in both western and traditional wears.
The University of Ghana graduate reveals, “Fashion has to do with how creative you are in your way of life. It transcends your looks, wears or anything. I believe it has to do with how you do things in a creative way.
“For instance, you may see two beautifully dressed ladies with one of them having chipped fingernails. I don’t consider that kind of a person as fashionable or stylish.”
The 24-year-old says that her style is classy and chic.
“When it comes to my style, I love being classy; I love both Western and traditional clothes that are sassy, chic, as long as I’m comfortable,” she says.
Shayo discloses that she started fashion designing on a smaller scale in 2015, but went commercial a year later and since then she has been designing for royalties in Oyo State and its environs.
”I am a shoe lover; I love both flats, heels, sneakers, slip-ons, name it. Anything that will make me look extreme, I key into it. It’s just that I hate plastic surgeries because it makes one look more unnatural the more,” she adds.
Shayo has attended several fashion shows across the country, including the 2016 International Fashion Festival. She’s a nominee for Ibadan Wedding Awards as the Best Wedding Gown designer.
Aside from fashion designing, Shayo is also into charity work in her home state, where she still works in conjunction with various non-governmental organisations. She recently adopted a little boy from an orphanage.
