FG receives 149 deportees from Libya in four days

The Federal Government, through the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, said it had received 149 Nigerians from Libya since Monday, when the corpses of 26 Nigerian women were reportedly found in Salerno, Italy.
The Director, Press and Public Relations, NAPTIP, Mr. Josiah Emereole, who made this known, added that not all the migrants were victims of trafficking.
Emereole said NAPTIP was working with other government agencies to reach out to Italian authorities to ensure the prosecution of culprits in the death of the Nigerian women.
It had been reported that the remains of 26 Nigerian women, believed to be migrants, were recovered from a Spanish warship, Cantabria, which docked in Salerno.
According to reports, the 26 women, including 14-year-olds, who were travelling on a rubber boat, were killed in a shipwreck, off the coast of Libya.
