God didn’t ordain Buhari for economic recovery – Gen Sec, Northern Bishops

A cleric, Bishop Timothy Kume, has urged Nigerians not to be carried away by the euphoria that President Muhammadu Buhari will bring about the needed economic transformation before he leaves office, saying the President was only ordained by God to sanitise the system.

Kume, who is the General Secretary of Northern Bishops Conference and the Chairman of Pentecostal Bishops Fellowship in Benue State, said Nigerians should be patient as the Nigerian economy would only enjoy a rebound in stages.

The clergyman added that God revealed to him and his team at the Faith Hill Prophetic Assembly Ministries in Makurdi that Buhari was brought in to serve as nemesis to corrupt leaders and not necessarily to put the ailing economy on a sound track.

The clairvoyant noted that it was amusing that Nigerians, upon reflection on the ‘change’ mantra of ruling All Progressives Congress, expected miracles rather than seek to experience the change in stages.

In an interview with our correspondent, Bishop Kume said, “Buhari is God-ordained. But that is just the truth; he was ordained by God and God used the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a political party, as a vehicle that would convey President Buhari into power.

“So, Buhari, by God’s revelation, is God-anointed for this time. God brought in President Buhari to accomplish one task: sanitise the system. God didn’t bring him to give us a very sound economy. God brought President Buhari to bring sanity to this nation. This is one assignment that God brought him into power to accomplish.”

He urged Nigerians not to lose hope in the system, stressing that as a prophet, God had revealed to him that the good days would come in due course and that the masses would smile.

“Let me tell you, change takes place after a process of time and it has stages. We may be in recession right now but what God is showing me is that if Nigerians can be patient, if only we can go through this pain, the gain that is coming ahead is far greater than the pain we are made to go through.

“The problem is that we are not prepared to make sacrifices as a people. Nations that are great today made sacrifices in the past and God does not make mistakes; God is not man. God who brought Buhari into power knows how to preserve this nation and knows how to bring us out of the woods,” he enjoined.

But Bishop Kume expressed displeasure with the recent lukewarm attitude to the anti-corruption war which the Federal Government itself initiated, warning that if the current attitude persisted, it would have farreaching, devastating effects on the successes so far recorded.

He complained: “Unfortunately, spiritually speaking, I am beginning to see weakness. In the realm of the spirit, it (the anti-corruption crusade) has started going down. I am not going to follow the noise in the media; I am not going to follow any propaganda of government but spiritually speaking, I have seen that the zeal with which the government in power came in to fight corruption has dropped.

“And if it keeps dropping, very soon, most of the cases in court will just go without any logical conclusion, because of what is happening behind the scene. I think I will call upon the government not to take off its foot from the accelerator; let it keep moving, let Buhari rekindle that fire he came on the board with.”

Asked if he foresaw President Buhari ruling for another term in office, Bishop Kume said while the president’s performance in the remaining two years could determine that, he also had spiritual revelations of a certain landmark political event that would take place early next year.

He said, “If you want me to speak as a prophet, I will tell you that a party is coming up early next year and that party may cause a lot of changes in the land.

“But good enough, what God is showing us is that the next President of this nation is going to carry on with the anti-corruption fight (of Buhari), even with more vigour, and that is good news.”
