Golf: Nigeria Cup triumph excites Adekoya

The 20th edition of the famous Nigeria Cup, a tournament put in place to celebrate the nation’s independence anniversary, came to a thrilling end at the golf section of Ikoyi Club 1938 last Sunday, with Segun Adekoya emerging the tournament overall winner.
To come top in the keenly contested competition, Adekoya netted a score of 70, to win the competition by oneshot over Niyi Latinwo, who shot 71-net. With his effort, Adekoya now replaces Andrew Odiri, the tournament’s defending champion, on the Nigeria Cup winner’s chart. Speaking shortly after receiving his trophy, a delighted Adekoya said his calm disposition towards the game earned him the victory.
Playing off handicap 13, Ubong Akpan grossed 85 score for 72-net score to come in the third position while Uwem Udoh’s 73-net score placed him in the fourth position.
