Gunmen kidnap judge, kill police officer in Kogi

A judge of the Customary Court of Appeal in Kogi state, Mr. Isaq Momoh Usman, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen.
The incident, which occurred along the Itakpe-Kuroko road on Sunday evening while the Judge was returning to Lokoja from his country home, had since thrown the judge’s family into confusion.

The Point gathered that the suspected gunmen accosted his car at Okene-Itakpe bypass in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State before kidnapping him.
Meanwhile, the police orderly with the judge was reportedly killed by the gunmen while he was trying to prevent his boss’ kidnap.
The driver of the judge also reportedly sustained bullet wounds in the struggle before Usman was taken to an unknown destination.
The information officer of the Kogi State Ministry of Justice, Mr. Saqeeb Saeed, confirmed the incident.   Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Wllly Aya, could not be immediately reached for comments about the incident at the time of filling this report.
