Hemp smokers take over Ogun primary school premises at night

Suspected Indian hemp smokers have taken over a kiosk located within the premises of the Salvation Army Primary School, Edu- Igbesa in Ado-Odo/Ota Local- Government Area of Ogun State.
The kiosk was built by the school’s authority to provide shelter for food vendors selling to the pupils during break hours.
Investigation by our correspondent, however, revealed that while the pupils make use of the school’s kiosk during the day, hemp smokers simply converge there at night to smoke away the illicit substance.
It was learnt that the hoodlums, apart from making the kiosk their rendezvous, have also been using the primary school compound as a hide-out for nefarious activities, including the harassment of young girls and adults, who walk across the field at night.
Reports have it that most of those who usually assemble in the kiosk often use the venue as the initiation spot for those interested in their nocturnal activities.
Parents always warn their wards against crossing the school’s field at night.
An independent source told our correspondent that the ugly development had lately forced the authorities of the school to errect a gate at the exit of its premises.
But the fencing of the school has yet to be completed, giving these anti-social elements the audacity to commit their atrocities under the cover of darkness in the night.
A Pentecostal pastor, who resides within the vicinity of the school, Jude Mezi, told our correspondent that some of the open classrooms within the school, “are known to serve as meeting point for adulterous secret lovers”.
According to him, “both married and unmarried persons usually converge on the school’s classrooms in the night to make love”.
Pastor Mezi warned parents on the danger inherent in allowing young girls to walk alone across the school’s field in the night.
Also speaking with our correspondent, a community leader, Mr. Francis Ilumoye, said, “At the last Parents Teachers Association meeting, the urgent need to provide two night guards in the school was discussed.”
Meanwhile, a police patrol team from Agbara Division, was seen some days ago patrolling the area.
It was not clear if authorities had hinted them on the urgent need to provide the needed security around the school’s premises.
