A prophet of the Celestial Church of Christ, John Doune Medonungbo, has dragged his wife, Victoria Temitope Medonungbo, to a Customary Court in Lagos, seeking an express dissolution of his 15-year-old marriage.
Prophet John, in a suit number CS/OTJCC/OLS/26/2014, accused his wife of conniving with her former husband, who allegedly led a gang of armed robbers, to his house torob him. He also accused his wife of attending another church without his knowledge.
“There was a night that my wife went to attend a church service without my knowledge; and there she met her former husband who thereafter, led a gang of armed robbers into my house,” he told the court.
The aggrieved husband explained that his wife’s former husband confessed to the crime after seven years.
In her defence, Victoria denied all the allegations levelled against her by her husband. She told the court that her husband always switched off his phone, which was why she could not always inform him that she wanted to attend another church. She equally accused her husband of abandoning her when she was terribly ill.
Having listened to the two parties, the President of the court, James Adeyinka Babafemi, dissolved the marriage after series of adjournments.
