How I boarded cab operated by ritualists on highway, Poly student recounts ordeal

But for divine intervention and sheer luck, Miss Rasheedat Akindade, a Higher National Diploma student of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, would have disappeared without any trace. She would have fallen a sacrificial victim to ritual practice and killing.
Rasheedat, who is from the Department of Food Science and Technology, had left her home in Ibadan, Oyo State in the evening of Sunday, September 4, 2016 and had headed to Iree for her ongoing examination in the institution. But for providence, she would have missed it all.
Instead of going to the motor park in Ibadan to board a public transport that would take her to Osogbo, where she would get a bus to Iree, Rasheedat decided to hitchhike.
When she did not succeed, she stood along the Osogbo-Ibadan highway to get the quick and cheaper “soole” vehicles.
Soon she flagged down an oncoming vehicle, but unknown to her, the car she had taken had suspected kidnappers and ritualists on board. As soon as Rasheedat boarded the vehicle, she saw three fierce-looking men and instantly she became suspicious and frightened. They soon pounced on her from behind.
Explaining her ordeal, Rasheedat said immediately she got into the car, an ominous silence prevailed as the driver suddenly diverted to Iyana Agbala in Ibadan, before she was gagged by the two men at the back seat of the car.
She said all efforts she made to scream and call for assistance proved abortive as the suspected ritualists held her hands and covered her mouth to make it impossible for her to raise the alarm.
Speaking with our correspondent at the popular Iree Poly Junction on Monday, when she eventually arrived at the campus to write her examination, Rasheedat, who was visibly happy and elated, said, “I thank God that I am not dead today. I had contact with death but God saved me.
“On Sunday, I left Ibadan to Osogbo for my examination coming up on Monday morning. I thought of taking “soole” because it’s always faster and cheaper. I had not spent ten minutes on the highway before I saw this car with number plate: “KJA942AL” at Iyana Agbala area of Ibadan.
“I was able to pick the registration number when we were negotiating the fare. There were two men sitting at the back seat of the car and a driver. I sat beside the driver, all I could remember was that I met myself in a fetish doctor’s house at Labo, close to Total filling station in Ibadan. untitled“The place was so silent; I was threatened not to press my phone and not to call anyone, while the herbalist was chanting some incantations.
“After some minutes, I realized the driver was going out with the two men. I stood up immediately, then the witch doctor asked where I was going and I told him I wanted to buy recharge card. He said I should allow someone else to help me buy it. At this juncture, I ran outside shouting for help.
“Surprisingly, when the driver saw me run outside, he began to throw my luggage out of the car boot, telling me that I should get out for I am not a “good meat” for the sacrifice they wanted to do. “I hurriedly picked my luggage and immediately I saw an okada rider, whom I stopped and jumped on his bike. He immediately zoomed off and drove me to Iwo road. After I had narrated my ordeal to the okada man, he told me that the witch doctor’s abode was a den of ritualists, who sacrifice human beings for making money rituals.
“At this point, I started thanking God for sparing my life. When I got to Iwo road, I boarded a bus going to Osogbo, I slept in Osogbo on Sunday with a relation of mine before I left for Iree on Monday morning for my examination.”
