How I lost my virginity – Humble Smith

When Ekenedilichukwu Ijemba, popularly known as Humble Smith, revealed that he never had sex before he came to Lagos during an interview, it instantly became a trending issue on social.
In an encounter with our correspondent, the Osinachi singer said he only decided to answer the question because he wanted to be real and straightforward.
Born and bred in Ebonyi State, he told The Point that he was a virgin till he left there.
“I left Ebonyi in 2009; I came to Lagos in 2012. But I spent like three years in Asaba before I came to Lagos. Losing my virginity was fun. You know if you taste a new thing, you will know if it is sweet or bitter. If it is sweet, you will want to continue. For me, it was a great experience. I still keep in touch with the lady and she has seen how far I have grown in entertainment. She congratulates and always tells me she is proud of me. She was the first girl I ever dated and the only girl I ever dated. I am presently single,” he recalled.
However, Humble Smith disclosed that he didn’t intend to look for publicity with the revelation, as noted by certain people.
He said, “I was not trying to gain publicity. I was asked during an interview and I decided to answer even though I found it uncomfortable. I’m a straightforward person; I do not need to hide anything since I am not a kid anymore. I believe in saying the truth and sticking to it. It is good to teach your kids and tell them the truth so that they will know where to go.”
Speaking on his latest single, ‘Focus,’ Humble Smith said the video, which was shot by Clarence Peters, will be released pretty soon. For him as well, people have come to embrace the song and he is glad about that.
On the inspiration behind the song, he explained, “When I came back from my tour, I thought of something new and I wanted to enlighten my fans on what I have learnt all through my life. Though we were not very poor while growing up, I needed to work as a man. I hawked ‘moi-moi,’ ‘akara’, drinks, pure water and groundnuts at different times.
“Growing up, I have always dreamt of becoming big. I used to tell my little brother that I would be bigger than Michael Jackson when I grow up. I still want to be bigger than the late Jackson. I’ve thought of giving up three times. But whenever I remembered my promise to myself and my parents’ sufferings, I kept pushing.”
