Despite being a trained actor, Darey Art Alade, has insisted that acting is not meant for him.
In a chat with The Point, the graduate of Theater Arts from the University of Lagos said there was no way he could do many things at the same time. “Though I am a trained actor, movie is not for me.
In the past years, I have done some stage plays, which is more serious and important. I cannot do everything, you do not expect me to be everywhere.”
He, however, said he was impressed with the reception of his last album.
“The reception of the last album is fantastic. Up till now, wherever I go, people tell me how much they love the songs like ‘Pray for Me’ and a few others. I wrote ‘Pray for Me’ many years ego even though I did not release it then,” he said.
According to him, ‘Pray for Me’ was inspired by the story of the PSquare brothers, which was shard with him by his producer, Oscar.
“For them, coming to Lagos was a journey. It might not be directly, but it is taken from their story in terms of inspiration. And of course, a lot of us goes through this one way or the other.”
The son of the iconic Modupe Arthur Alade has never thought of delving into commercial music to please the public.
He stated, “I paid my bills; I have my niche market and I am happy about it. Why do you want to satisfy everyone when I could satisfy a few who love and follow your music and what you represent?
“If you follow my songs well, you will agree with me that I am adventurous. I have gone outside of my comfort zone to do songs life ‘Fuji’, ‘Na Style Na Style’, ‘Carry Dey Go’ among others.”
