I make-up to stand out – Niniola

For stunning female music artiste, Niniola Apata, popularly known as Niniola, accessories are her life, when it comes to apparels. She believes that her purpose of cladding is to stand out and get her a pop as a music artiste.

“I love my accessories a lot. When it comes to make up, my intentions are always to get that look that will pop and stand out in any picture/video. And to also wear something that will go with the dress/clothes I am putting on,” she told The Point.

The admirer of Celine Dion and late Whitney Houston, who rose to recognition in 2013 after she placed 3rd runner-up at the Project Fame West Africa Season 6, also said the reason why Afrocentrism was prominent in her music was because she is an African.

“It’s deliberate; Afrocentrism is prominent in my music. You can hear it in songs like ‘Ibadi’, ‘Gbowode’ and the just released ‘Akara Oyibo’. I am proud to be a Yoruba girl from Ekiti State. I have always been fascinated by the rich African culture, our stories, songs and diverse ethnicity and accents.

In essence; I showcase my culture through my music,” she added. Niniola, while recounting her success in 2016, explained that “there are so many things I am thanking God for, from the AFRIMA Award to other achievements.

I really can’t mention all of them, but trust me, 2016 was a very good year for us (me and my team).” Ms Apata, born on December 15, 1986 is a Nigerian singer and songwriter, who rose to prominence in 2013, after she placed 3rd runner-up at the Project Fame West Africa Season 6, sponsored by telecommunication giants, MTN.

Consequent upon the release of her breakthrough debut single. ‘Ibadi’, Niniola was nominated in the ‘Most Promising Act to Watch’ category at the 2015 Nigeria Entertainment Awards.
