I take pain away through music, says Jesse Raey

Jesse Nwachukwu Okonkwo, aka Jesse Raey, a finalist of Nigerian Idols 4, has described his music as a depression killer. He told our correspondent that listening to his music was a good way to get off any kind of depression because his lyrics are highly inspirational and soul-lifting.

The afro-pop singer, who is still pursuing his educational career, saidhe is coming backwithsomething big.

“My song cuts across boardandtouches all aspects ofhumanlife andtrustme youcan’tlistentomy song and not get lifted for it is a rich blend of the many sounds that make me who I am,” Raey said.

At age 19, he formed a two-piece Afro-pop and R&B band, “Jaykaycez,” in 2008. The band released their first track “Garri” in November 2010. In January 2011,Jaykaycez releasedanother single, ‘The things you do,’ that enjoyed playtime on local radio stations, further increasing awareness of the group. In 2012, they went solo due to distance and educational pursuits.
