IoD Nigeria holds Annual Dinner, awards night

…Emir of Kano, Obi of Onitsha, Ooni of Ife, ex-Gov Obi, others for honours, awards

*Kalu Idika Kalu to deliver keynote address

No fewer than 200 eminent personalities, leaders of corporate Nigeria and other distinguished guests will converge at the 2016 Annual Directors Dinner of the Institute of Directors Nigeria, tomorrow, December 1, at the prestigious Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos.

Special Guest of Honour is the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, while Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu, a renowned economist and a former Minister of Finance is the Guest Speaker.

A release by media consultant to the IoD, Mr Segun Dipe, quoted the Acting Director-General/CEO of the Institute, Mr. Olusoji Odukoya, as saying that the Annual Directors Dinner is usually a black tie event, an evening of fine dining, networking and honouring.

The Point, however, gathered that the 2016 edition is unique in many ways, and attracts more eminent personalities than ever before, with three royal fathers from the country’s three main regions to be honoured.

The royal fathers to be honoured at the IoD 2016 Annual Directors’ Dinner are the Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II and His Majesty, Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe. They are to be inducted into the Institute’s Hall of Fellows.

Individual awardees of the evening include: a former governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, who bags the Good Governance Award; Mr. Leo Stan Eke of Zinox Computers, will go home with the Entrepreneurial Award, while Mr. Bob Newsome, formerly of PCW, bags an award in Director Development.

Others are Mallam Abdullahi Ibrahim, SAN, who bags an award in Leadership and Excellence, Ms. Omobola Johnson, a former Minister of Communications, who will go away with the Outstanding Women Director Award, and the Nigerian Breweries Plc, which goes home with the Corporate Governance Award.
