I’ve rejected offers from gays, married women, unlike other actors – Jude Orhorha

Jude Orhorha, known for deaf and dumb roles in the rested sitcom, ‘Checkmate’ and ‘Fuji House of Commotion,’ has revealed the secrets behind the wealth of many actors in Nollywood.

The 47-year-old actor, while speaking with The Point, insisted that most actors who are living large now do not get their money from movie making. According to him, they do all manner of things to gather wealth.

Speaking on why some contemporaries are richer than him, he reacted, “I know what they did as women and I know what they did as men too. the ladies are lesbains while the men are gays. We are in the same industry, so we know each other. I would have loved to go deeper, but I do not trust the media. I don’t want anyone to come after me. I am not bordered about riches; if it is your time, it is your time. Some are opportunists while others are just lucky. Omotola was lucky from Day One. Her first job was a lead role; she was introduced to it by Emeka Enyiocha. I can tell you their history. Some of them get married to a rich family; they didn’t marry for love but money. Some of the men are gigolos; we all know them.”

He added that he had seen it all and had been ap- proached to do most t h i n g s a c t o r s did to get w e a l t h but he rejected the offers because they didn’t mat – ter to him. H e stated, “I have a name to protect. I k n o w where I am coming from, so I have refused to join them. Gays have approached me many times and promised to pay me well, but I said I was not interested. I am a man, not a woman. I cannot sleep with a married woman because of money. Things of the world do not move me. If I have been here close to 30 years, it says a lot about my ability.”

Orhorha disagreed with our correspondent on playing limited roles in movies in recent times, pointing out that he is presently starring in over eight soaps.

“My face is till everywhere. The problem is that we didn’t have much television stations then. It was only NTA at a time; that is why ‘Checkmate,’ ‘Ripples’ and others were very popular. Over the years, more TV stations and internet have come up. I can tell you that almost every day, my jobs are on air. I’m also a producer; I have produced 9 jobs all together.

“Now, I want to concentrate more on the business than the show. In the past, we were more focused on the show. When we started, the money was not really there.”
