Judges at Project Fame, Idol, X-factor said I wasn’t ripe enough –The Voice 2 winner, Daniel Diongoli

The story of the latest winner of The Voice Nigeria reality show is inspiring. Before now, Daniel Diongoli, aka Idy, said he had been auditioned at many other reality shows like Project Fame, Nigerian Idol and X-Factor, but he never came close to getting to the live stages.

He revealed this at GAC Motor’s Head Office, Victoria Island, Lagos, where he was officially handed over the car he won.

“I’ve been going for auditions. I have auditioned for several reality shows. I went for MTN Project Fame; I started auditioning from season 5, 6, 7, 8 and 9. I did Nigerian Idol 2, 3, 4 and 5. I also tried out X-Project. They told me I was good, but not ripe for the stage now.  Some of them told me yes I qualified, but never called me back,” he said.

But, according to him, the tradition where he hails from forbids one from giving up on any endeavour.

He added that music remained his life and the only way he could express himself.

Diogoli said that winning such a reality show was a dream come true for any talented person, insisting that his life had changed for the better and that he was beginning to get used to the whole life of being a star.

He said, “I am getting used to going out and people taking my photographs. It is new to me and I am trying to get used to it. It is a dream for every young person out there to achieve certain heights they’ve always dreamt of.

“All the contestants are talented in our different ways. It is music, artistry and we are all creative in our different ways. Everyone has a chance to win, but I was just lucky to win. To get to the live show meant you are a real talent. Everyone did put in their best. I would say it was the grace of God and Nigerians that made me win.”
