Killer herdsmen: Buhari’s govt lacks justice, equity – INC

The Ijaw National Congress has described the President Muhammadu Buhari administration as lacking justice and equity in the face of the various threats to the continued corporate existence of the Nigerian nation.
INC National President, Chief Harry Charles, in a chat with our correspondent on the court judgment upholding the proscription of the Igbo group, Independent Peoples of Biafra, said the failure of the Federal Government to equally declare the killer herdsmen ravaging different parts of the country as terrorists was a clear indication that the government lacked justice.
Charles, therefore, condemned the continuous killing of persons by marauding Fulani herdsmen as barbaric and unacceptable.
The Ijaw leader said although the decision of the court to uphold IPOB’s proscription was not out of place, he demanded that the Federal Government should equally declare the killer Fulani herdsmen and their umbrella body, Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria as terrorists.
He added that any group that supported violence and killings of other citizens should be proscribed and declared as terrorist.
Charles said, “I think it is time the Federal Government declared the herdsmen terrorist group and proscribe any group that is in support of their actions and just as I said, people who are saying what they are doing is right, such defence is totally unacceptable and should be condemned.
“How can someone say that the barbarism being perpetrated by the Fulani herdsmen is right; like one professor in a northern university said-that Fulanis are only taking what they conquered as their colony. I mean, that is insensitivity and should not be tolerated; not even when so many people have been callously murdered.”
Charles maintained that the Federal Government refused to declare the herdsmen terrorists because there was no equity and justice in the country, adding that nothing was
being done rightfully, especially by those in the corridors of power.
