Kogi United: Why we sacked Jatau

The management of Nigeria National League side, Kogi United Football Club, has sensationally revealed why it asked the head coach, Ishaya Jatau, to step aside.

According to the club chairman, Abdul Sule, the coach is no longer competent to lead the club through the new season with the unconvincing way he started the campaign in the series.

Meanwhile, the club has appointed Jatau’s assistant, Musa Abubakar, to continue on acting capacity until a new coach would be announced by the club. Kogi United FC’s management took the decision after the club’s disappointing 0-1 loss to FC Zamfara recently in the league.

Sule said, “We are aspiring to get promoted to the Nigeria Professional Football League this season, we tried that last year but we couldn’t succeed due to tactical deficiencies, as we lost most games in the dying minutes, also our last result against FC Zamfara wasn’t encouraging, especially from the pre-season we had.

“We have a good team but unfortunately we don’t have a tactical approach, this result to our decision and I’ve asked the chief coach, Jatau to step aside for now and his assistant, Abubakar to act for now until a decision is reached in that regard for a new handler.

It’s a very difficult decision to take, but that’s the game. Jatau is a nice and great guy, he has tried all he could, but things don’t really worked out for him, so we wish him well.”
