’ll remain DJ even as a grandma, says DJ Lambo

The new president of Choc Boi Nation, Olawunmi Okerayi, well known as DJ Lambo, has hinted that she would play music till she becomes a grandmother.

She told The Point that remaining relevant would be the only proof to her grandchildren that she was the biggest DJ in Africa at a time.

“I will still be a DJ even when I am a grandma. I will be DJing in pregnancy, of course I will not play at my wedding because it is my day and I have many DJ friends that are gladly ready to play for me. DJing is in my blood.”

According to her, the death of her father who taught her DJing affected her a lot, as she felt abandoned.

“God has reasons for everything. My father was ill. He introduced to the music; he made me for in love with music. I think that is the biggest impact he made on me. He knew I really loved music,” she said.

DJ Lambo disclosed that her mother didn’t like the work hours of a DJ initially because she would work at night and sleep all day.

“Eventually she became more comfortable with it and she has always loved me being a DJ. Growing up, we have parties like almost every weekend. There is life band, music and several records at home. It was always fun and laughter. I also listened to a lot of Fela’s song growing up,” she recalled.
