LSACA to screen 36,000 for HIV in Lagos

The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency has said it is targeting 36,000 residents of the Ikorodu division for HIV screening.

LSACA said that areas to be focused on during the HIV screening in the area include Imota, Igbogbo/Baiyeku, Ijede, Ikorodu West and Ikorodu North Local Council Development Areas.

The Chief Executive Officer of the agency, Dr. Oluseyi Temowo, disclosed this during the inauguration of the screening exercise at the Ajegunle – Ikorodu community in Ikorodu.

Temowo noted that efforts were being put in place to screen as many residents of Lagos State as possible to achieve the global 90-90-90 initiative, stressing that the present administration remained passionate about the health of Lagos residents.

He, therefore, called on the Baales and the elders of the communities to help mobilise their wives and children, including their neighbours, to access the free HIV Counseling and Testing Services being carried out by the agency in the area.

Responding, the Baale of Ajegunle-Ikorodu Community, Chief A.O Oladunjoye, commended the state government for the initiative.

Oladunjoye also expressed gratitude for the construction of the inner road, street lighting and medical outreach to enhance the well-being of the residents.
