Maina: Malami speaks on his involvement in reinstatement saga

Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami on Thursday denied involvement in the reinstatement of embattled former Chairman of Presidential Task Force on Pension Reforms, Abdulrasheed Maina into Federal Civil Service.

The AGF maintained that the purported letter on the reinstatement of the ex-Pension boss could not have emanated from his office.

Speaking when he appeared before a House of Representatives Committee probing the reinstatement of Maina, the AGF said though the reinstatement issue was important, the greater interest should be pension fraud, which the ex-Pension boss accused some politicians and lawmakers of.

Malami said,“As of February 21, Maina’s issue was a work of progress.

“The letter giving clear directives on his reinstatement couldn’t have genuinely emanated from my office.”

Maina is currently on the run for allegedly committing fraud to the tune of N2.1 billion while in office and was fired from the service by President Buhari on Monday, October 23rd.
