Man, 21, on the run for raping 11-yr-old girl in Ogun

A bricklayer, simply identified as Mayowa, is currently on the run for allegedly raping an eleven-year-old girl at the Isale Igbeyin area of Abeokuta South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The 21-year-old bricklayer was said to have forcibly dragged the minor (names withheld) to an uncompleted building at about 7:45pm, penultimate Sunday, near a church located behind Zenith Bank at Isale Igbeyin, where he had sex with her.
Our correspondent gathered that the victim had left her slippers behind at the well, where she had gone to fetch water, but on getting back to pick her slippers, she met Mayowa, who allegedly lured her into the uncompleted building and forcibly had carnal knowledge of her.
It was also learnt that the bricklayer, said to be a close associate of the girl’s parents, used one of his hands to cover the victim’s mouth to prevent her from raising the alarm while he raped her.
The girl later returned to her parents to report the incident. But their efforts to track down the suspect proved abortive as Mayowa ran away before they could get to his house.
The victim’s parents then reported the matter at Ibara Police Station, despite efforts by Mayowa’s parents to persuade them not to do so.
Since then, the police have been on the trail of the runaway suspect.
Efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, to confirm the incident proved abortive as he did not pick calls made to his phone.
