Man, 38, lures 11-year-old girl to bed with custard

The police have arrested a 38-year-old man, Rotimi Abomini, for allegedly defiling an 11-year-old girl (names withheld) at the Bariga area of Lagos.
Our correspondent learnt that Abomini, a native of Ondo State, who resides at Coconut Street, Ebute-Ilaje, Bariga, Lagos, usually lured the young girl with custard before sexually assaulting her.
Abomini, who has been resident in the area in the past four years, was alleged to have become notorious for his sexual misdemeanour.
It was gathered that the victim, who is in primary six, confirmed that Abomini had on many occasions offered her and her friend, simply identified as Mary, some custard and milk before attempting to rape her, after fondling her.
It was also gathered that the suspect, while attempting to force himself to have carnal knowledge of the girl, who had been restraining him because she was afraid that her parents might get to know, assured the young girl that there was nothing to worry about as nobody would get to know of their escapades.
Following the assurance, the young girl became much endeared to the suspect, a development that led to the deepening of the illicit relationship between them.
Our correspondent learnt that though Abomini had not had carnal knowledge of the victim, he had been touching her sex organs.
Abomini was exposed by neighbours, who saw him when he was letting out the victim through his window, following a knock on his door while he was attempting to have sex with the young girl.
“At a point, because of the frequency of their affair when she (the victim) was called by her mum, Abomini carried her through his window and landed her at the other side of the bungalow building to make her escape,” a resident, simply identified as Babalade, told our correspondent.
Babalade added, “The suspect said the girl used to come to his room and he gives her custard and other stuffs to lure her. We beat him mercilessly when we saw him pass the girl through his window. He admitted that he used to finger the girl and also robbed her vagina with penis so that it can open.”
Another resident, who identified himself as Bolaji, said, “He is a wayward man. He does not see anything that goes in skirts he would want to check what is in there. I am sure he must have defiled a lot of small girls.”
Also speaking, a rights activist in the area, Mrs. Temitope Badmus, said, “Initially, the girl did not want to open up. She said she did not want her mother to know. So, I assured her that I would not tell her mother. She said Abomini had been giving her and her friend custard and milk and that he was always touching them. She said that whenever they went to his place, he would ask them to lie on the bed and he would be thrusting his fingers inside their private parts. The community almost lynched him but for my intervention.”
The mother of the victim (names withheld) said, “She is my first child. I have just two of them, her younger brother and her. She did not want to say the truth to me because of fear but she said the man used to rob his penis on her vagina as well as using his hand. When we examined her, there was a small opening of her private part. Blood was not coming out.”
When contacted, the Lagos Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Chike Oti, confirmed the incident, adding, “The suspect has been detained at the command and would be charged to court for prosecution.”
