Man arraigned for defrauding land buyer N3m in Osun

A 29-year-old man, Adewuyi Adedamola,  was on Tuesday  arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, for allegedly defrauding a land buyer of the sum of N3million.
The state police command dragged Adedamola to court on a three count-charge bearing on theft, fraud and threat to life.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Joshua Oladoye, told the court that Adedamola committed the offence between August 2016 and 2017 in Osogbo.
Oladoye added that the accused person, on the aforesaid period, obtained under false pretence, a sum of N3million from one Tosin Adebayo, who had indicated interest in buying two acres of land from him.

Adebayo was said to have later discovered that the land allegedly sold to him did not belong to the accused person.
The prosecutor said that when Adebayo discovered that the two acres of land at Ibokun Road in Osogbo, allegedly sold to him at the rate of N3million, was a fraud, he approached Adedamola for the refund of his money, but the accused threatened his life.
Oladoye argued that the offences committed by the accused person were contrary to Section 383 and punishable under Sections 419,390(9),86 of the Criminal Cap 34 Volume II, Laws of Osun State Nigeria,  2003.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against him.
Counsel to Adedamola, Mr. Reginald Ngwu, applied for the bail of his client in the most liberal terms, stating  that the accused person would not abuse the bail privilege if granted.
Magistrate Olubukola Awodele granted the accused person bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties and adjourned the case till November 17, for mention.
