Man falls from NITEL pole, bleeds to death in Osun

A 48-year-old man, Kabiru Salami, on Monday fell from a pole belonging to the Nigerian Telecommunications Limited while attempting to disconnect some cables and died instantly.
Salami, said to be a worker with a firm, Ismoy Multipurpose Company at Oke Baale in Osogbo, Osun State, had climbed the NITEL pole erected at Ojaja Street in Ile-Ife around 1:00pm to disconnect the cables before he fell and bled to death.
The victim had gasped for breath after he sustained severe injuries before he gave up the ghost shortly after he was rushed to the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital in the town.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Folasade Odoro, confirmed the incident, saying that Salami was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty and that his remains had been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy.
Odoro said, “At about 16:48hrs, one Oyawola Morufu of 48, Ibokun road, Osogbo, reported at a police division in Ile-Ife that at about 13:00 hours, one Kabiru Salami, aged 48, working with Ismoy Multipurpose Company, Oke Baale, Osogbo fell down from NITEL pole at Ojaja Street in Ile Ife, when he wanted to disconnect NITEL cable wire.”
She added some police men took the victim to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
