The Head, Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim in the South East geopolitical zone, Apostle General (Dr.) Emmanuel Agomuo has alleged that many pentecostal church ministers in the country are fetish.
Agomuo made this allegation in an exclusive interview with our correspondent in his office at the Provincial Headquarters of the ESOCS in Umuahia, Abia State, as the church prepares for the burial of its late Spiritual Head, Baba Aladura (Elder) Lazarus Onyeleonu.
He accused the Pentecostal church ministers of claiming to be miracles and signs workers, living ostentatious lives as well as feeding fat on the ignorance of their members and admirers.
The apostle general, who condemned the Pentecostal ministers for allegedly imposing all sorts of levies on their members, described some of their acclaimed feats as both stage-managed and dubious.
“Some of the so-called Pentecostal churches are fetish. Many of them lay claims to dubious miracles and deliverance. We have had reports where charms and human skulls were dug out of their church premises,” Agomuo alleged.
Stressing that Christians should be guided by the Holy Spirit before having anything to do with such ministers, he denied that his church and its ministers engaged in such fetish practices.
The chairman of the state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria added that the church would not only condemn the practice, but also excommunicate any of its members indicted.
He described the late leader of the church as a humble and unassuming Christian, adding that his contributions to the development of the church remained indelible.
“During his life time, Elder Onyeleonu devoted quality time to praying, evangelism, and reading, just as he was both detribalized, humourous, and peace-loving,” he said.
Disclosing that Onyeleonu was the first leader of the church of Igbo stock, the chairman added that he hailed from Aguata in Anambra State and joined the church in Enugu, Enugu State in 1948.
He also condemned in very strong terms the recent killing in a church by yet-to-be identified persons, appealing to the security agencies to fish out and prosecute the perpetrators without wasting any time.
