MAPOLY rector urges matriculating students to contribute to Nigeria’s well-being

The Rector of the Moshood  Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, Ogun State,  Prof.  Oludele Itiola, on Thursday urged the newly admitted students of the institution to contribute their quota through the knowledge  obtained in their chosen careers to get the country  out of the current  economic recession.
Itiola gave this charge during  the 2016/2017 matriculation oath taking ceremony  for all the newly  admitted Full – Time  and Part – Time National Diploma and Higher National  Diploma  Students  held at the OGD Auditorium of the institution, in Abeokuta .
The rector said, “You have enrolled into tertiary institution at a time our dear country is in dire need of appropriate human capital to help her out of the global economic challenges. You should, therefore, be prepared to contribute your quota through knowledge, to lift her up, and here in MAPOLY, we shall hold you through. “
Itiola, therefore, challenged the students to contribute to national development through  the knowledge  obtained from their chosen career, as their alumni did, saying that some of their colleagues at the National Diploma level had made the institution proud through  their innovation and creativity.
“Your colleagues, who were here before you have lent credence to our exploits in national development, in such areas as Communication, Engineering,  Sciences, Business management and the Environment.
“Besides being trail blazers in professional examinations such as ICAN,  APCON, etc or representing  Nigeria at international competitions and programmes, your colleagues at the National Diploma level have produced Generating sets not running on fuel, Kerosene  and petrol powered generator, Electronic Ballot Box, Solar Power  Street Lights, Tricycles, and other interesting products  as their contributions. What will be your contributions? ” he added .
The rector noted that the students’ education at the school was a big opportunity  for them to develop  and discover more about  themselves and to give them a professional edge in their various chosen careers.
He assured  the students  that  the management  of the institution  would continue  to provide enabling teaching environment for the them, advising them to be focused,  committed and  ensure discipline in their studies if they wanted  to come out of the institution  with good academic results.
“I advise you to be focused, committed and ensure  discipline, if you are to graduate  with flying colours. You have been prepared well for this day by your parents,  family  and friends . Many  of your  loved ones have literally sacrificed so that you  may enjoy the privilege of a life time. Honour their sacrifice by behaving responsibly and making the most of this extraordinary opportunity,” he said.
