My husband starved me of sex, laced me with magun, woman tells court

  • I don’t want her to leave me – Hubby

A 38-year-old woman, Toyin Omoletu, has pleaded with an Ikorodu Customary Court to dissolve her 18- year-old marriage to her husband, Olive Omoletu, for allegedly lacing her with thunderbolt, known in local parlance as magun.
Toyin, who noted that Olive, 49, had always complained of being tired to avoid having sex with her, disclosed that the real reason for his action was the thunderbolt he had allegedly placed on her.
The 38-year-old woman approached the court seeking the dissolution of the union.
She said she could not continue to live with a man that did not trust her, adding that she had been starved of any sexual intercourse in the past nine years.
Toyin, who is a resident of Majidun in Ikorodu, said, “My husband has been denying me sex. He has not slept with me in the last nine years. He always complains of tiredness to avoid me. Since we had our last son, my husband has refused to perform his `duty’.
“I would have left him since, but he was always seeking my mother’s intervention. Not quite long, I discovered that someone placed a thunderbolt (magun) on me, but I was helped by a traditionalist.
“He (Olive) also consumes too much alcoholic drinks and is very hostile to me and my children.
“I beg this court for instant dissolution of this marriage to enable me to move on with my life.”
The 49-year-old husband, who is a welder, had earlier sought a possible reconciliation.
He had said, “Please, help me to beg my wife, I will make amendments. I do not want her to leave me.”
The President of the court, T.K. Dabor, ruled that the couple should go their separate ways as the marriage had broken down
    irretrievably.
He granted the custody of the children to Toyin, pending the outcome of the family court’s ruling.
Dabor also ordered Olive to pay a monthly upkeep allowance of N15, 000 for the three children of the marriage and that he should have free access to them.
