My personal style is constantly evolving, says Nollywood star actress, Omoni Oboli

Award-winning actress and filmmaker, Omoni Oboli, got her due recognition from her fans in her early days in Nollywood, not long after she made her first appearance in 1996.
Reminiscing about her humble background and her growing up days, which she describes as eventful, Oboli says, “We weren’t rich; my experiences with my mum and my siblings were such that I couldn’t trade them for any other.”
This actress with no airs, however, says her career has seen many highlights.
“My first movie was premiered at Aso Rock Villa. I won the best actress award at the Harlem International Film Festival and also the best actress award at the Los Angeles Movie Awards with Lonzo Nzekwe’s movie,” Oboli recalls. For Oboli, fashion is life.

I am the type of individual who is constantly evolving. Now that I am a mother, my goals have changed. I love fashion and it will always be an element in whatever I do

“You cannot be a celebrity without being knowledgeable about fashion. You must be conscious of what is trending in the fashion world. For instance, wearing the same colour, from head to toe, is a foolproof method of achieving a slimmer, taller look. Colour combination is important for those who want to look flashy,” she says.
She explains that the classic colour for slimming is black. “However, the single-colour head-to-toe look is instant slimmer, no matter what colour you choose. Knowing how to mix and match colours is something of an art. Generally, I like colours and colours are feminine. I like to look good because it’s a way of life,” she adds.
Speaking specifically on her personal style, the Nollywood actress says, “My personal style is very mood-inspired. Some days, I feel very classic and sophisticated. Some people wear their emotions on their sleeves; I guess I literally wear mine on my body.
“I am the type of individual who is constantly evolving. Now that I am a mother, my goals have changed. I love fashion and it will always be an element in whatever I do.”
As an actress and career woman, how does she combine work and the home front? She says, “Like any other working mother in any other field, it’s hard to be away for too long from the children and my husband, but we’ve got to do what we’ve got to do, and it’s always great to have a good support system.
“My husband is a great support for me and I don’t have to feel like I am neglecting them, because he makes sure the home front functions properly when I’m away.”
