My style may be crazy, I’m not – Victoria Kimani

Kenya-born musician, Victoria Kimani, is not only known for her genre of music. Regarded as one of the sexiest women to ever grace the African music scene, her physical qualities can send any man reeling in ecstasy.

Kimani tells The Point that she does not see her persona as anything bad since she’s God’s creation.

“I am aware of my qualities. But why should I apologise for owning up what is mine? At times, I can choose to wear ‘Hijab’ to cover it up.

Sometimes, I decide to flaunt it. I do not even look at what people say because this is me and I try to be myself always. It is people who look at me as a sex symbol. It is their own assessment because I do not dress or act it. Dressing is a thing of choice; what others like might be what others dislike,” she says.

Though a daughter of a Christian cleric, she insists that her parents understand the difference between a good kid who’s just weird and a wayward one.

According to her, her parents do not have any problem with her personality. Regarding fashion, Kimani likes to work with lots of make-up artistes. But sometimes, according to her, she dictates her style.

“If I see something that I feel would not look good on me, I do not wear it. I do not like to give the impression that I was forced to wear certain things. But I like to try different things; that is one good thing about fashion.

Interestingly, she states that her fashion style is quite different from her lifestyle, insisting that she was brought up to be disciplined and focused.

“My fashion is different from my lifestyle. My fashion might be weird and crazy, but that is not my lifestyle. I think I live a very disciplined and focused life. I wake up in the morning, work out, cook my own food, go to the studio and do whatever I want to do. I live a normal and simple life. I do not really have a party lifestyle; I do not club much,” she says.
