My victory ends APC’s reign in Osun- Adeleke’s younger brother

The Senator-elect of the Osun West Senatorial District, Otunba Ademola Adeleke, the younger brother to the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who represented the constituency before his sudden death, has disclosed that his victory in the Saturday bye-election in the district signified that his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, would win next year’s governorship election in the state.
Adeleke, who defeated his opponent from the ruling All Progressives Congress, Mr. Mudashiru Hussein, said that the defeat the APC suffered during the poll would again come its way during the general elections in the country in 2019.
He stressed that just like the people of Osun, Nigerians had grown tired tired of the ruling party’s administration.
Addressing journalists at his residence in Ede on Sunday, the Senator-elect appreciated the people of his constituency for coming out en masse to vote against the APC, saying, “This is a new dawn in the history of our democracy.
“Our democracy is growing; this is a situation where the opposition is beating the incumbent party. We want to make sure that there is no rigging, again.”
While commending the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies and journalists for their efforts at ensuring free, fair and peaceful bye-election, Adeleke said that he had set aside the sum of N250 million as scholarship grants for the people of his constituency, adding that he intended to continue where his late elder brother stopped.
“Part of the agenda is to continue from where my late brother stopped. I have learnt enough from him and I have learnt well. We (PDP) are not going to relent until we sack APC from this state forever. We will keep working hard. My victory portends an end to APC’s government in Osun and Federal government,” he added
Other things Adeleke said his constituents would benefit from his less than two years stay in the Senate would include women empowerment, free medical care, small scale businesses, among other constituency projects.
Adeleke was on Saturday night declared winner of the bye-election with 97, 480 against Hussein’s 66,116 out of the 171, 575 accredited voters.
