NAAPE protest: Dana clears air

Following the recent protest of members of the National Association of Aircraft Pilots and Engineers at the premises of Dana Airline over what they described as lack of necessary condition of service, the management of the airline has disclosed that the allegation is false, baseless and malicious.
The Manager, Communications, Dana Air, Mr. Kingsley Ezenwa, said, “The union’s disruption is illegal and the reason given by the union for the action and allegation is entirely false, baseless and malicious, as there is no such thing as ‘casualisation’ of staff at Dana Air.
“We have also advised the union that we are a law-abiding and liberal corporate citizen and are not against their activities or the activities of our staff members in these unions. We also cannot foist unionism on our staff. We understand what freedom of association means, and we expect the unions to know better.
“We will continue to engage the unions in the most civil manner and hope that they learn to be constructive in their activities by supporting the efforts of the Federal Government and our sincere efforts towards the growth of the aviation industry.”
The General Secretary, NAAPE, Mr. Abba Ocheme, had alleged that the airline breached the agreement it had with the union when the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority mediated in the latter’s complaints earlier in
the year.
